The Society was established
in March of 1995 by Fergal Woods and Declan O'Toole, two recent immigrants
from Ireland, who recognized a need for a organization that would empower
members to help one another.
The early focus was on
assisting newly arrived Irish immigrants in settling into life in New
England. Employment workshops, accommodation and mentoring were the
main tasks of the Society.
The very first meeting
was held in The Common Ground in Allston, MA.
Venues since have included:
The Black Rose, Green Briar, MarketPlace Cafe, Paddy Burkes, Tiernan's,
John Hancock Conference Center, BankBoston Conference Center, and the
Wyndham Hotel, 89 Broad Street, Boston.
