For optimal connectivity to the internet using
the Celticweb Network,
you should have the following suggested configuration as shown below:
When configuring Windows for proper TCP/IP
(Internet) usage, it usually requires DNS (Domain name services) configuration
in two different sections.
The first level of configuration for IP is in CONTROL-PANEL/NETWORK.
(You access it by clicking on <START>, and then <SETTINGS>, and then
<CONTROL-PANEL>, and the <NETWORK>). Inside of the 'Network' configuration, it is suggested it should have (Only) the
following components installed: (Figure 1)

Once you have gotten to this section, single-click on "Client for
Microsoft Networks" - to highlight it, and then click the
<PROPERTIES> button.
Inside of the that window, configure it as shown below: (Figure 2)

Next, when back to the 'Network'
window, select 'TCP/IP' and click on the <PROPERTIES>
button. Once you do that, it will take you to a window which is showed
below: (Figure 3)

(This setting should remain the same)
Next, click on the tab-selection which says
"DNS Configuration".
Once in DNS-Configuration window, you should configure it as shown below:
(*NOTE* - Replace 'yourusername' with the first part of your DIALIN name - Not
including the '@celticweb.com') (Figure 4)

Next, once you have made the necessary changes
to DNS, go and select the tab-bar that says "WINS Configuration" (If
you are using WindowsME, this is not required, and move to the next
example). Once there, you will need to select "Disable WINS
Resolution", as shown below: (Figure 5)

At this point, you can now click on the <OK>
button, and it will take you back to your 'Network Component'
list. Next, at the top, click on the 'Indentification'
selection, and it will bring to a window with 3 fields - as shown below: (Figure
6)
(*NOTE* Once again, replace the 'YOURUSERNAME' field with your Celticweb
login name) (Figure 6)

At this point, you can select the
<OK>. When doing so, Windows will want to do one of two
things; Will either ask for your Windows CD (Disc) and then ask you to
reboot, or will simply as you restart your machine.
Assuming all is configured as shown in the
example above, this should complete the first TCP/IP & DNS configuration
section.
NEXT, is to configure the 'Dial-up
Networking' profile for Internet/Celticweb use.
(If you have already configured a D.U.N. profile for Celticweb, skip to
the next screen/figure #10)
(For Windows95 and Windows98, go to <MY
COMPUTER>, and then <DIAL-UP
NETWORKING>, and for WindowsME, go
to <CONTROL-PANEL> and then <DIAL-UP NETWORKING>)
Select the <MAKE A NEW CONNECTION> icon,
and you will be prompted for information. The first window you'll
see will be the example shown below:
(Figure 7)

Once that information field is in, click on the
'Next' button.
You then will be prompted for phone number information as shown below:
(Figure 8)

In the 'Telephone number' field, you want to enter
the phone number of the Celticweb Access number for your town.
(*NOTE*: Whether an access number is local
- that is, no fees are incurred over local flat rates - is dependent upon the
telephone service provider(s) and calling plan(s) available within an area.)
Once the correct area-code and Access number
is entered, click on the 'Next' button. You will then shown the
following windows as shown below: (Figure 9)

You can then click on the 'Finish'
button. At that point, it should take you back to the 'Dial-up Networking'
window, with a newly created profile/icon.
RIGHT-CLICK on the newly created icon, and select 'PROPERTIES'. It should
then take you to the following screen - as shown below: (Figure 10)
Once you verify you have the correct area-code
and phone number, you can then click on "Networking" (or in
Windows95/98, click on 'Server Types'), which will take you to a window as shown
below: (Figure 11)

Once you verify you have your setting like the
example shown above, you can then click on the "TCP/IP Settings"
button, which will take you to a window shown below: (Figure 12)

(*NOTE*
If you are using WindowsME, click on the <OK> button, and then
go to the tab-selection that says "Security" and make sure your
settings match the example below: - Fgure 12A)

Once
you verify you have the correct DNS-addresses entered, you will now be able to
click the <OK> button, which should take you back to the window shown in
Figure 11. There, you can once again click on the <OK> button, which
will bring you back to the 'Dial-up Networking' window. It is
suggested you <RIGHT-CLICK> on the newly created icon and select
"Create Shortcut". When you do so, you will receive a message
like shown below: (Figure 13)

At this point, you should now be ready to dial
into the Internet via Celticweb.
When you
are ready to start the dial-in process, double-click on the newly created icon
on your desktop that should say something like "Shortcut to Celticweb",
it will bring to a window like shown below: (Figure 14)

At
this point, you should be able to successfully log into the Internet.
